______________________________________________________________________________ 5] SUBSPACE EMISSARY [0500] ______________________________________________________________________________ Subspace Emissary is your basic Adventure Mode in Brawl. No, it's nothing like the version in Melee. Subspace Emissary is like a full-blown game. It's like a game in a game. You will follow an intricate story while you play through a mode that can take up to ten hours to complete. You can play with a friend in co-op mode as well. This isn't like Classic or All-Star Mode where you can choose your own character to play all the way through. In Subspace Emissary, each level gives you at least one character to play as (usually two or more). Choose who you wish to play as for that level. You will have to choose more than one character in some levels. In this case, you play as the first character at the start, then revert to the second choice if killed. The lineup continues each time you die. The game basically forces you to try out nearly every character in the game, which I like. You'll also encounter enemies in the Subspace Emissary. Unlike fights in Brawl, enemies will have a health meter instead of a Damage Counter. Simply deplete their HP bar with attacks to kill them off. However, players still have a Damage Counter. Subspace Emissary is also where you will be using those many, many stickers you have been collecting throughout the game. Stickers are almost like equipment of sorts found in RPGs. Each type will boost certain attributes, like "+5 Attack" and "+20 Fire-based attacks". Stuff like that. Stickers can be attached to your character (represented by a trophy). You'll stick the stickers to the base of the trophy. Once the base is filled with stickers, you cannot put any more on. Also, once the stickers have been applied, you can't remove them. In short, use stickers wisely. Every time you get a Game Over, you will lose some of the stickers used. NOTE: The walkthrough is based on the Normal difficulty. ============================================================================== STAGE ONE ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Mario, Kirby, Peach, Zelda After the opening cutscene, you'll be given a choice to play as either Mario or Kirby. You will face the other one in a standard, one-stock match. It's the first match in the game, so you know it'll be an easy one. Once the battle is complete, some Primids appear. Choose the order between Mario, Kirby, Peach, or Zelda. Since you can choose the order, you will start off as your first choice. If you die, your second choice will appear next. It's like that until all four characters are used. If your fourth choice is killed, then it's Game Over for you! Primids are the weakest enemies in the game and don't really do much at all. You know, the occasional punch. Pathetic. Just two or three attacks are enough to kill a Primid. You will also fight Sword Primids and Boom Primids. Sword Primids are basically normal Primids that carry a Beam Sword. Needless to say, they will attack with it. Boom Primids carry boomerangs and toss them at you. Remember that boomerangs always come back to the sender. There are 30 enemies in total; most of them are variations of Primids, but there are several Spaaks thrown in as well. Spaaks are giant floating clouds with big energy backpacks. When they get attacked, they'll turn black and fire lightning bolts everywhere. They are just as weak as Primids, so a few aerial attacks are all that's needed. After the match, Petey Piranha drops in, captures Peach and Zelda, and knocks away Mario. Great, now it's just lil' ol' Kirby. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS: Petey Piranha ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Petey Piranha is a big boy, so he'll cover up nearly a third of the stage. You will have to avoid his attacks, but there are only two of them. Petey Piranha will use the two cages in his hands to swap at you. The attack is fairly slow, so you can either dodge or float away with Kirby. Petey will also flutter in the air, only to come slamming down to the ground a second later. When you see him fly in the air, avoid getting underneath him and just float in the air yourself. Not too difficult. Your targets are not Petey himself, but one of the two cages he holds in his arms. You can only destroy one cage, and as a result, you can only save either Peach or Zelda. Not both; only one. The freed player will be on your team for the next few levels while the one left behind won't be seen for nearly the entire game. It all comes down to personal preference: who do you like more? Once you have made a decision, it's now time to free that person. You must target the cage of the person you wish to free. Zelda is on the left side (Petey's right arm) and Peach is on the right side (Petey's left arm). Attack the cage of the person you want to free. I suggest using Kirby's Stone attack and his Down Aerial to consistently deal damage to the cage. Both cages have a health meter on the top of the screen to show your progress. Since you only have to worry about two of Petey Piranha's attacks during the fight, it is not that difficult. The battle will end once a cage has been broken. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the battle, another cutscene will start, signifying the end of the level. Stage One was really easy, but don't get used to the difficulty. Things will start to become a lot tougher. - Kirby joined your team! - Peach/Zelda joined your team! ============================================================================== SKYWORLD ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Mario, Pit Select either Mario or Pit at the start of the stage. The first section is a giant shaft, so fall all the way down to the bottom. Fall through the clouds until you reach a stone platform with a green Item Box. Break it open for an item and walk across the clouds to the left. Break the next Item Box up here and continue down to the bottom. Once on the ground, walk forward and break the next Item Box. Go through the door by pressing Up. You'll drop onto a platform with some Primids. Defeat them all to make a pathway open up. Go across the stone path and defeat the two Spaaks ahead. There is an Orange Box (lol Microsoft) on a ledge above some clouds. Orange Boxes always contain rare trophies, so try and search high and low to find Orange Boxes. Jump up the clouds and break it open, then grab the trophy. Take out the Primids and Boom Primids up ahead and jump onto the platform below the Jyk. Just avoid the enemy, break open the Item Box, and move on. You will encounter a Greap here. These large enemies have very deadly scythe arms, but they are slow and predictable. When you see it rock backwards, it's getting ready to fall down. Make sure you run behind when the Greap falls down, or you'll get launched back. Greaps can also spin around very quickly. Keep attacking the Greap's backside to win. Go through the door at the end. You'll arrive in another free-falling area. Fall through the clouds and avoid the Glunders rolling around on the stone platforms. Fall down the narrow chute to reach a moving platform. It'll drop you off on a set of platforms patrolled by Jyks. You cannot kill Jyks, so just avoid them. Hop past the giant ferris wheel and deal with the Spaaks and Primids ahead. Fall down to the bottom, where you'll reach a stone floor. However, parts of the floor will rise up and back down. The third rising platform is blocking a secret door. Wait for the platform to fall back down, then enter the door. You will find an Orange Box at the top of some clouds here. Exit the hidden room. Continue to the right while taking out the Primids and Spaaks. You will find a Roturret. This turret can rotate 360-degrees (what clever names the developers have come up with) and fires bullets out of the two cannons on either side of its face. Try and stand right under the Roturret while attacking it. The enemy is not that durable. Use the zipper to launch yourself over to the next door. Proceed through said door to end the level. - Mario joined your team! - Pit joined your team! ============================================================================== SEA OF CLOUDS ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Kirby, Peach/Zelda Remember, you can only use the princess that you saved, whether that was Peach or Zelda. The other one will not be present. After choosing your character, run across the back of the Halberd for an eventual cutscene where the team will fall off of the ship. Now on the Sea of Clouds, go to the right and defeat the Boom Primid. Destroy the blocks ahead and take out more Primids. Avoid the Glunders as you traverse down the zig-zagging floors. You can find an Item Box in one of the rooms on the right. Once at the bottom, follow the path to the left and take out the Poppant. All this cowardly foe does is run away while tossing food out of its giant pair of pants. Weird... You'll also find some flying Feyeshes here. They're relatively weak, unlike the next enemy ahead: the Towtow. This massive ram enemies can tackle and stomp on players, so watch out. Don't destroy the floating blocks here; instead use them as stepping stones. There is an alcove with a hidden door up above which is easily accessible with Kirby (but still reachable by Zelda or Peach). Go inside to find an Orange Box. Collect the contents and exit. Continue to the left and kill the Feyeshes and Primids in your way. Destroy the blocks to find another area filled with zig-zagging platforms. Run down all of the platforms (you can find a Star Rod behind some blocks near the entrance) to reach the bottom. Take out the Poppant and jump across the three clouds to find a trio of Feyeshes. Move through the door at the end. Looks like you are on ground level now. Defeat the Spaaks ahead and cross the clouds. These clouds will disappear and then reappear several seconds later. Jump across the gap and ignore the arrow telling you to fall down. If you drop off of the ledge just past the blinking arrow, you will land on a breakable platform with an Item Box. Break open the box (but not your support!) to get the item, then return to the hole. Drop down the hole and defeat the Mites here. These little guys can be annoying, so either run away or destroy the purple portal that is spawning them all. Go through the cave while avoiding the falling boulders. Some of the tiny platforms here are crawling with Glunders, so watch your step. You can find another Item Box in the top left-hand corner of the cave. Grab the item inside and drop down to the bottom. You'll have to fight a few Glunders alongside a portal spawning many Mites. Destroy the Glunders first, then concentrate on the portal. There are more boulders to the right, so avoid them as best as you can. They'll roll down the hill after you Indiana Jones style, so either outrun them or use the platforms and ladders along the way. Ignore the Feyeshes as well. A hole up ahead will finally stop the boulders. Jump over it and run to the right for a battle with a Greap. Always try to run behind him and attack his back. When he turns around to stab you, just roll to his back and attack again. Repeat this process until the Greap is KOed. The level will end once you have gone through the door behind where the Greap was. ============================================================================== THE JUNGLE ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong What an awesome cutscene. I mean, DK is absolutely pulvarizing those Koopas. Anyways, at least we have some new characters to play as. At the start of the level, annihilate the Goombas and break open the Item Box. Take out more Goombas and some Koopas here. Like all Mario games, you can use Koopa shells for weapons. You know, just like the Green Shell item in the game. Defeat more Koopas and Goombas up ahead and watch out for Paratroopas. Hop into the Launcher Barrel; it will automatically shoot you up to a high ledge. Destroy the Item Box and hop into the next Launcher Barrel. Shoot yourself to the second one and don't fire until you're aimed at the ground. If positioned correctly, you'll fire through a weak point in the ground and land next to an Orange Box. Hit the switch to the left to get out. Go through the tunnel and shoot through the long series of Launcher Barrels. Ahh, memories of Donkey Kong Country are flowing through my mind right now. Head through the door at the end. You will find spheres connected to metal tracks here. I don't know what they're called, but I will aptly name then Rail Balls. When you hit a Rail Ball, it will quickly move across its track, killing any enemy or destroying any objects in its way. Use these to clear the area of enemies. When you reach a Rail Ball track that loops, hit the Rail Ball in the center of the loop to break the ground to the right of you. There is an Item Box directly below. Move forward to reach a ladder. Use the Rail Ball to the left of the ladder to destroy part of the wall to the right. There's a trophy inside. Grab it, climb the ladder, then take out the Koopas. Jump up the platform and destroy the blocks with the Rail Ball to reveal a door floating in midair. Go inside to reach a secret room. Open the two Item Boxes and leave. Once back here, hit the Rail Ball to the right to hit a switch. When hit, a platform will appear. Hop on and use the Rail Balls here to destroy any Koopa or Goomba that gets in your way. Of course, traditional attacks work here as well. Jump across and break the wall in front with the Rail Ball for a battle. Some Hammer Bros. and Goombas will attack you here. A moving Rail Ball will float above and under the main platform here. Use this Rail Ball as many times as you need to defeat the enemies. If anyone ends up behind the Rail Ball, then you can pummel them yourself. :) Things get a little annoying when Bullet Bills drop in. Use quick aerial moves to destroy them before they can blow up in your face. Once the path is opened, use the Launcher Barrel to shoot over a group of Paratroopas and into a door. Proceed through. You will appear on a platform that slowly descends upwards. Along the way, enemies will drop in (literally). Goombas, Hammer Bros, Bullet Bills, you name it. Along the way, make sure to collect the trophy lying on the platform to the right. Go through the moving door at the top to the next area. Use the zipper in front to be shot into a giant hole. Avoid the Jyks as you fall down the hole. They are strategically lined up in order for you to get hit, so you may get zapped several times before hitting rock bottom. As you fall, aim for the left side of the hole. There is a hidden door on the left that you should go through, since you can find an Orange Box inside. Once it's in your possession, return to the previous room and continue your free- fall. A Giant Goomba will attack you at the bottom. Giant? He's about the same size as DK! After defeating him and his Goomba friends, a door will appear. Naturally, continue through. Due to the cutscene following the level, DK won't be joining us. Stupid Bowser and his weird gun that turns people into trophies... - Diddy Kong joined your team! ============================================================================== THE PLAIN ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Mario, Pit Run to the right and defeat the Borboras in your way. I hate these guys. They will shoot gusts of wind out of their mouth to push you away from them. Take out the enemies in your way until you come across to reach a large stone wall. Some Feyeshes and Tickens will drop down. Tickens are large robotic chickens whose attacks can pound you straight into the ground. They can take a lot of punishment before kicking the bucket. Once the coast is clear, destroy the blocks in front of you. Defeat the Borboras and Ticken in front of you and enter the tunnel. A wall will rise from behind and move towards you. It will push you along the way, so make sure it doesn't push you right into a Jyk, or even worse: right into a hole. The wall will lower when you reach the end. Clear out the enemies and fall down the hole. Break the blocks in your way to reach the bottom. Run down the hall and stop when you stop an opening above you. Some Boom Primids will be here, so defeat them first. Use Mario's wall jumping skillz or Pit's ability to fly (Up B) to reach a door at the top of this shaft. Go through to find some Item Boxes. Cool! Leave and drop down, then kill the Borboras next to the door. In this next room, walk onto the moving stage. You'll have to defeat all of the enemies that appear as the ride takes you to your next destination. You have to fight Spaaks and some Primids, nothing too major. However, the ride will stop to reveal a group of Fire Primids. These guys can shoot fireballs at you, so they can be pretty nasty. The previous foes probably dropped weapons you can use. Afterwards, some Glunder, Primids, and Borborases. You'll also fight some Fire Primids and Spaaks once the platform lands. Yawn. KO every last one of them and run to the left to finish the level. That was a short one. ============================================================================== THE LAKE ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Diddy Kong, Fox This level starts off with a cutscene and a boss battle. Neat! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS: Rayquaza ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rayquaza is a quick boss, but luckily we have two fast characters to match his speed. He has many attacks that you should really watch out for. His most basic is where he will spin around and whip anyone in the way with his giant tail. This attack is very quick and hard to avoid if fighting up close. Rayquaza will also bend down and stick his head up in the air. When you can hear electricity buzzing, get ready to jump over a giant ball of energy that will be sent across the screen horizontally. If Rayquaza starts flying in the air, pacing back and forth, he is getting ready to dive into the ground. Avoid getting drilled in the process by this massive, lipstick-wearing dragon (looks like he wears lipstick, sue me). In a totally different attack, Rayquaza will burrow and repeatedly burst out of the ground. When you see a mound form on the ground, avoid that spot so he doesn't fly right into you. Rayquaza's final attack involves the Pokemon spinning in the air like a giant pinwheel. When he does this, a lightning bolt will strike the ground. This attack is very hard to dodge because it seems like the bolt of lightning is always homed in on your location. Attacking Rayquaza is easy, but it will leave you open for some of his attacks. The best way to attack is up close, so get right next to Rayquaza and use various attacks (Smash Attacks work best). Fox should use his Up Smash and Fire Fox while Diddy can also use his Up Smash and his Down Smash. When fighting right next to Rayquaza is your best bet, you'll be left open to his tail swipe and possibly his energy ball attack. If you are playing as Fox, you can use your Reflector to knock the energy balls back at Rayquaza. This boss battle is relatively easy, but you may get hurt a little bit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Once the battle is complete, Diddy will drag Fox along for the adventure. This level is weird because you must go through various doors to reach mirrored areas. Each door has an arrow on them, so I'll refer to them as Up Doors and Down Doors. Figure that's an easy way to remember them. Go through the Up Door ahead of you and break the blocks in front of you. Defeat the Goombas up the ramp and take out the Paratroopas and Hammer Bro. past it. Enter the Down Door under the ramp. Go to the right and avoid the Auroros. These thin birds will divebomb and stick themselves in the ground. Avoid getting impaled and use them as items when they are stuck in the ground. Fall down the shaft while you avoid the Paratroopas. Kill the Hammer Bros. and enter the Up Door. You are trapped in a small darkened box. Attack the upper left corner of the box to set off a chain reaction, freeing yourself and brightening the area. Use the many wooden platforms here to reach a tall ladder. Quickly climb up before the Hammer Bros. on the sides can attack you. Once at the top, kill the enemies, including a Giant Goomba, and proceed through the Down Door. Defeat the two Towtows in front of you and dodge the Auroroses above. Break the blocks to the right, KO the sleeping Towtow, and go through the (normal) door. Walk to the right to find a Bucculus holed up in the ground. These incredibly annoying enemies will sap your enemy with a giant smooch, then try and run away. They always hide in the ground and pop up when you are nearby. Ignore the door up in the alcove; it leads to a room filled with fire. And fire is bad. Instead, run past the Up Door below and kill the Bucculusses ahead. Break open the Item Box at the dead end and return to the Up Door. Go through. Now head up the identical ramp and stop at the dead end. Some Goombas and a Giant Goomba will materialize here. Kill them all for an explosive block to appear. Destroy it and continue back to the Down Door, in which you should now head through. Now proceed to the right to find a giant hole in the ceiling. Hm, that wasn't there before... Hop up top to find a switch. Hit it. Now you can finlly go through the red door in the alcove. Trust me, the fire is gone. Once you head through, you'll fall through a big hole. Go through the Up Door on the left and you'll reach an identical room with a Towtow in it. Defeat the Towtow to make a red door appear. In the next area, you will land on a raft moving down a steady river. Some Goombas and Koopas will drop down, so dispose of them. Collect the contents found in the Item Box not too far down the river. Next up is a platform containing some Hammer Bros. Use the Rail Ball to quickly defeat them all. Directly past them is a Jyk and a floating door. Go through the door to reach a secret room. Use the Rail Balls to open the way leading to an Item Box and an Orange Box. Leave once you have collected everything. Okay, back on the raft. The next part can be tricky because you will have to avoid a fleet of Bullet Bills. Don't bother attacking them; just duck and jump over each one. An Orange Box is just floating in midair, so quickly break it open and snag the trophy. Two Giant Goombas will fall down together, so focus on one at a time. The raft will crash into a beach after the fight. Soome Goombas and Koopas will greet you, so return the favor by kicking their asses. Destroy the Hammer Bros. over the gap and break open the Item Box in the hole just past the second Hammer Bro. Next, shoot through the barrel launcher to randomly twist and twirl in the air. I'm pretty sure that's like, defying the laws of gravity or something. You'll crash into a cave below. You will fight Bowser here, except he is an odd shade of purple. Anyways, he's evil. This is a standard match against Bowser; he only has one life. He is slow, so use your two quick characters to blow him out of the water. Well, that's the end of the level. Turns out that it was just a clone, and the real Bowser shows up! However, Fox and Diddy retreat... - Fox joined your team! ============================================================================== THE RUINED ZOO ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Lucas, Ness, Pokemon Trainer The opening cutscene makes this place look like something out of a horror flick. Lucas will walk through the zoo, but is stopped by the Pig King Statue! This thing cannot be destoyed, so all we can do is run! He is really slow, but you will get launched if you touch the Pig King Statue. Simply run in front of you and avoid all obstacles. Many crates will block your path, so you can either destroy them or jump right over. Ignore any enemy that gets in your way; avoid them and let the statue trample them. Leap over the wooden fences and run over the Buckots. They will turn their buckets over and let whatever the heck is inside drop on your head. Looks like coins, but also like lava. Who cares? Just run under them. Continue running past obstacles until you reach a building. Unfortunately, the Pig King Statue can fit too. You must hit the switches to open the doors through the building. Hit the first one to open the door, then do the same with the second. The third switch is on the ceiling, so jump up and hit it. Jump over the Primids guarding the exit and jump over the crates. Hop onto the platforms in the water and watch and the statue falls in and sinks to the bottom. Haha! But another one will drop down on the other side of the pool. Just how many of these things are there?! Run a little further for another cutscene. Ness will appear, but so will a boss. Oh, and LOL at Lucas being such a wuss. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS: Porky ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Porky is actually in the cockpit of a giant spider robot, so you will have to deal with his "vehicle" in this boss battle. Despite the size, Porky is very quick. Each razor-sharp leg of his can deal damage if you're hit. When he scuttles along, either back up or jump over the robot. Porky's first attack is when he will rub his two back legs together to form a big orange orb. A laser beam will fire out of the orb, usually moving from the ground up. He will use the same orange orb in a similar attack: Porky will float in the air and fire an electrical beam right below. You'll be safe if you avoid the spotlight under Porky. If the robot stops, then keep your distance. Porky will use one of his legs and repeatedly stab the air in front. If its one of his left legs, then either back up or jump to his right side and vice versa. When Porky releases little robotic version of himself, avoid them at all costs. You can run through them, but they'll ocasionally fall down and explode. Make sure they don't trip right next to you, or you'll go kaboom. He usually releases six exploding robots at a time. Also try and roll when Porky jumps in the air. Make sure you aren't under when he comes crashing down: you'll get launched pretty far -- usually right off of the screen. That should be all of Porky's attacks. Ness and Lucas both have long-range attacks, so stick to using them at first. PK Fire and PK Freeze work well for Lucas, as does his PK Thunder attack (I find it much easier to control than Ness's version). Ness should stick to PK Flash and PK Fire as well. Make sure to constantly jump over Porky when he runs across the stage in a hurry. Once Porky is down to less than half health left, rush in and use various aerial moves and Smash Attacks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well, Ness is no more thanks to Wario. Ha, Wario is so badass. Lucas will meet up with Pokemon Trainer as they team together to fight evil. Pokemon Trainer only has Squirtle, so that is the only Pokemon you can use right now. After character selection, take out the Primids ahead. Jump over the crates and defeat the Boom Primid and Auroroses. Hop over the spikes and climb the ladder to the top floor. From here, jump to the right onto a platform. Good way to avoid a big amount of enemies. Hop across the pool of water (I find it funny that Squirtle can't swim) and go up the ramp. A Floow will appear near the swinging platform. These guys can attack with sonic booms and constantly heal, so kill them quickly. Kill the group of Floows up ahead and continue to the right. Move from swinging platform to platform until you are stopped by some Primids. Attack the Boom Primid first, then clear the area of the others. Some Floows will appear here as well. Now that the path has opened up again, move on to reach the entrance to a building. Press Up to go inside. Down the ramp is a door, so hit the switch on the ceiling to open it up. Hop onto the island to trigger a battle with many Bytans. They may look like Poke Balls, but every time a Bytan flashes, it will duplicate. Avoid having the Bytans multiply by quickly wiping them out. Once the pests have been eliminated, jump to the path on the right and avoid the Jyk. Kill the Borboras and climb the ladder. Destroy the Glunders and the portal that is spawning them. Also get rid of the Bytans here, then collect the Orange Box to the left of the ramp. Go back to where the portal was and use the platforms to reach the ledge above. Head through the door nearby. Back outside again. I hate this place. Avoid the Boom Primid by springing up to the ledge on the right. Defeat the group of Tickens that confront you and jump over to a platform with a spring. Use it to reach the Fire Primid and kill him, then break the Item Box floating in the air. Use the item inside to help take care of the Floows down here. Use the spring on the right to reach a very high platform. This will trigger a fight against soome Boom Primids, Fire Primids, and Tickens. Not too difficult if you ask me. Once it's over, you'll have to jump across a large spike fence. Have Squirtle use Waterfall or Lucas use PK Thunder to get over safely. Kill the two Tickens on the other side and go down the path to end the level. - Lucas joined your team! - Pokemon Trainer joined your team! ============================================================================== THE BATTLEFIELD FORTRESS ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Ike, Marth, Meta Knight You'll start off in an abandoned castle as Marth. Well... I guess it's not that abandoned after all. Defeat the Primids at the front gate and go through. Take down the Sword Primids and defeat the next pair down the hall. Continue down the staircases to reach another square room, where you'll be ambushed by Armights. These guys are pretty nasty and have a long range, but clear them out with your sword. Take down the Borboras and walk past its remains. Defeat the Armight, climb the ladder, and use the key on the nearby gate. Avoid the Jyks while maneuvering towards the door. Go through. In this room, avoid the Jyks and collect the contents found inside the Orange Box and Item Box. Exit and drop down the ladder, then follow the tunnel to the left. Take the bottom path and hit the switch when the Jyk passes. Doing so will open the gates. Collect the Item Box and defeat the Armights in the room. Enter the small area on the left and defeat the Sword Primids before entering the door. You'll be dropped off in front of a large gate. However, the switch to lower it is on the other side. Just what are we going to do? Well, use Marth's Shield Breaker (Neutral B) to go through the gate and at the switch. Now that the gate is lowered, exit the castle and defeat the two revvin' Roaders in the barren wasteland. Defeat the other enemies up ahead and ignore the switch; hitting it will only drop more foes onto the ground. Continue defeating Spaaks and Roaders and head through the door at the end. Marth will meet up with Meta Knight in the next cutscene. Choose your player and get ready for an ambush. You'll pretty much have to fight through several waves of enemies. There are Sword Primids, Scope Primids, Buckots, and plenty more. The final enemy is a Greap. The red counter at the top of the screen shows the remaining enemies left. Run down the trail until you are stopped by some Primids. Defeat them all and walk forwards to encounter an Autolance. To defeat them, knock off their helmet to expose a blinking siren. Attack the siren to kill the Autolance. Pick up the Extra Life and the Maxim Tomatoes in the Item Box, then move forward and fight the Primids and Autolance. The screen will be moving along the way, so watch out. Take down the enemies as you slowly move forward. It's easy stuff here; just walk down the path while killing monsters. Yawn. Some Primids accompany a Greap down the road, so focus on the lil' guys first and then target the Greap. Another wave of enemies will stop you almost immediately later, so take care of 'em and jump onto the barricade. Yay, more enemies. Slay the Feyeshes, Armights, Autolances, and Sword Primids before going through the door on the other side. Drop down the large hole right into a mine cart. Ride on down the track and jump out when you see the flashing "!" appear on the screen. Exit the room. Ride the next mine cart through some crates and jump out before it can crash into a spike wall. Open the Item Box/Orange Box and leave from where you came in. Kill the Primids and Buckots to proceed forward. Ride the next few mine carts while jumping over the designated areas. When the cart crashes in a nearby wall, exit and go up the ramps. Drive the final mine cart to reach a door. Ditch it and go on through. Run forward for a scene. Now Ike is on your team! Blow through all of the enemies in your way and open the Item Box as well. There are some Sword Primids and Feyeshes that block your path. You know what to do. Some Buckots appear afterwards, so kill them with some Aerial attacks. Eventually, some Nagagogs run in. These annoying foes start off as tiny blue monsters. When given time, they turn yellow and grow to your height. If you still haven't killed them yet, the Nagagog will grow even bigger and turn red. Defeat them before they can tower over you. Once every last enemy is defeated, run to the right to finish the level. I gotta say, this scene is pretty funny. I always feel bad for Luigi in games because he's made out to look like a total wuss. Anyways, Wario seems pretty content collecting all these trophies, but King Dedede steals his hovercraft and the trophies. - Ike joined your team! - Marth joined your team! - Meta Knight joined your team! ============================================================================== THE FOREST ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Link, Yoshi So if Link just found the Master Sword, we must be in the Lost Woods, right? Or not, because Yoshi is snoozing on a nearby tree stump. What a weird world this must be where all Nintendo characters seemingly live with each other in harmony. Anyways, as you start the level, defeat the various Primids in front of you. You'll get ambushed as you jump on a floating platform. Once the coast is clear, continue forward past a second floating platform. NOTE: After completing the Subspace Emissary, return to this area in The Forest. There will be a door above the floating platform. Enter the door and defeat Toon Link inside to unlock him as a fighter. Smash the Puppits ahead and hop over the trees. Break open the Item Box and fall inbetween the trees. Run through the hollow section of the tree on the left and enter the door. Open the Item Box/Orange Box and leave. Defeat the Boom Primids and Puppits as you cross the sea of trees. Break apart the next Item Box and defeat all the enemies stationed near the two floating platforms. After they have been wiped out, go through the door at the end. In this next section, watch out for Trowlons. They like to throw you on their back and carry you away to your death. Don't let it happen. Run to the right and spring your way up the side of the cliff. Use the spring to reach an Item Box and cross the vine platforms to eventually reach an area inhabited by Puppits and Tickens. Jump onto the ground and break open the blocks to reveal another Item Box. Do the same with the next set of blocks to find an Orange Box. Defeat the Puppits and destroy the final clump of blocks to find a door. Use the Rail Balls to dispose of the Feyeshes and Fire Primids in this next area. Use one of the Rail Balls to destroy a set of blocks and access an Item Box. Continue to the right and defeat the wave of Mites, then grab the next Item Box. Kill the Shellpod that guards the entrance to the nearby cave and head inside. Defeat a second and third Shellpod, then hit the switch in the corner to reveal a series of platforms. Use them to reach the top and break open the ceiling with the Rail Ball. Carve open a path with the next Rail Ball (use a projectile attack from the other side of the hole) and spring up to a large platform. KO the Shellpod, Feyeshes, and Fire Primids, then run to the exit. - Link joined your team! - Yoshi joined your team! ============================================================================== THE RESEARCH FACILITY ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Zero Suit Samus, Pikachu You will start the level as Zero Suit Samus. Yeah, you're without a suit. Break the boxes in your way and enter the door. Walk across the elevator and defeat the R.O.B. Sentry ahead. Ride the elevator up (just press Up while standing on it) and take down the R.O.B. Sentries up here. Collect the Orange Box on top of the stack of crates. Return to the elevator and ride it up to the next floor. Go inside the doorway at the end. Once the scene ends, you'll be able to choose between Zero Suit Samus or Pikachu. Pick whomever you want to play as. Bowl through the line of R.O.B. Sentries in front of you and proceed to the next room. Kill the enemies and follow the arrow on the right. It leads you down a ladder towards another door. Follow it and go through the door. After killing the R.O.B. Sentries and Roturrets in the room, continue to the right to reach an intersection. Use the zipper to boost to the corner of the room, where you'll find a key alongside some R.O.B. Sentries. Once you wipe them out, take the key and backtrack to the intersection. Now take the northern ramp and unlock the gate at the end. At the next intersection, ignore the zipper and jump up the platforms. Run to the right, kill the Roturret, and leave the key there (for now). Ride the zipper to the right of the key. You will rocket across a gap to find another Orange Box. Break it open and take the trophy inside, then jump back across the big hole. Pick up the key and unlock the gate to the left with it. Now backtrack through the entire room and exit (just follow the arrows). Ride the moving platforms in the center of the room and follow the arrow to the next door. Step onto the orange platform to have it start chugging along. As you cruise through the big room, avoid the Jyks and their patterned movements. Once the platform hits a wall at the end, some Glunders will appear. Avoid them until a red switch appears. Hit it to make a giant tunnel appear behind you. Cross through (again, avoid the Jyks) to the door. Return to the previous room. Climb up the ladder at the top of the moving platforms and destroy the crates (and enemies) up here. Leave through the door on the left. This next tall room holds a lot of Bytans, so watch out for them. After they're disposed of, climb up the series of ladders. There are some dangerous R.O.B. Launchers in this room. Once at the top, collect the Item Box and exit. Run to the right to encounter some giant Bytans! They aren't any different than their smaller counterparts, so kill them like you would with normal Bytans. As you go through the room, be careful of the green mines floating around. You can use a projectile attack from Pikachu or Zero Suit Samus to detonate them from afar. You will have to fight a group of Metal Primids along the way. Once you make it through the wave of Metal Primids, move along. The purple platforms will lower when you put weight on them. There are usually mines under the platforms, so quickly jump off after landing on the platform. After managing your way through, finish the level by going through the door at the end of the room. - Zero Suit Samus joined your team! - Pikachu joined your team! ============================================================================== THE LAKE SHORE ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Kirby, Link, Mario, Pit, Yoshi The start of this level is totally determined by your past actions. The princess that you saved will end up getting captured by Bowser. Looks like both of them are now prisoners. A group of small, purple Shadow Bugs corrupt the trophy and turn it into an evil member of the Subspace Army! Link and Yoshi do battle with the evil princess. I can't really say this battle is difficult, so defeat either Peach or Zelda to continue the level. Mario and Pit will charge onto the scene, thinking that Link and Yoshi just defeated a sweet woman in combat. Great, now we have to fight them too! This is a two-on-two battle, so defeat one fighter, then doubleteam the second. King Dedede speeds along with his (well, Wario's) hovercraft just as Link notices the trophies on board. Just as the greedy king snags Mario and Pit, Kirby frees the two as Dedede gets away with the other trophies. You have a lot of characters to choose from here. Bombeds are very common in this level. As you can see, their heads... are bombs. They will grab their bomb head and toss them around the stage (then magically grow new ones). Defeat the Bombeds and Mites and grab the Item Box to the right. Take down the Tickens that appear and step onto the rocky terrain. Once you do, a large platform will rise from under you and fly up to the sky. Plenty of Bombeds will prevent you from enjoying the scenery, so clear them out until you reach the end of your trip. Once the Bombeds lose their bomb heads, they run around in a comical manner. Most of them run right off the edge of the flying platform. The final enemies are a Greap and two Spaaks. Take care of the two clouds before targeting the Greap. The platform will start growing smaller and smaller as you move down to the ground. Stay in the center and avoid the onslaught of Bullet Bills that appear from nowhere. You will reach the ground just as the platform disappears. Follow the arrow's orders by running to the right and go through the door. The screen will slowly move with you like the old-school Mario games. Run through the ruins and defeat the Bucculus that lies in wait. Jump over the walls and avoid the Jyks here. As you move through, the screen will start to scroll faster. Keep up with the screen to avoid dying. Eventually, the walls will start to move to the left. Make sure you don't get caught behind one or you will be swept offscreen. Use the zipper at the end to rocket across the falling blocks and jump over the gaps. There are more moving walls here, so keep your balance and be quick at the same time. There is an Orange Box on the track here, so try and pick it up. At the end is the entrance to a cave. The gang sees Dedede's hovercraft parked in front of the cave entrance and they head inside. Drop down from the entrance of the cave to fight two new enemies: Shaydas. Shaydas are very large enemies equipped with sickles. Their weak point is the red orb in their chest. They're quick and powerful, so block and dodge a lot. After defeating them, drop down the long hole right into a mine cart. Jump out when you see the "!" appear onscreen. Collect the Item Box in the small alcove and take down the enemies in front of you (just measly Feyeshes). Climb the tall shaft and jump towards the tunnel on the right. Before moving on, look up to see a ledge to the left. Double jump to reach it, so go down the path to find a door. Head inside to find an Item Boxes and Orange Box, then leave. Return to the tunnel and start to make your way through. Giant pillars will rise and lower from the floors and ceilings; watch out for the red hot tips. A key lies at the end of the tunnel, but there are three locked gates in front of you. Choices, choices... Use the key on the top gate: the other two gates lead to dead ends and enemies. KO the Shaydas along the way and destroy the blocks to reveal a path. Continue destroying the groups of blocks to eventually be stopped by another ambush. Some enemies will enter, thinking that they can actually put a stop to you. Prove them wrong. Go through the door after killing everyone. Break the Item Box and Orange Box, then exit the room. ============================================================================== THE PATH TO THE RUINS ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Lucas, Pokemon Trainer Looks like we're going to take a little detour just so Pokemon Trainer can catch Charizard. Look, I know you "gotta catch 'em all!", but we are trying to save the world here. Some people... Pick your character, then run down the path. Kill the big Shellpods and hop over the blocks. Avoid the group of Jyks and spike pits as you cross the blocks. When you reach the long platform, another fight will commence. You'll have to defeat Puppits and Shellpods in order to move on. Drop down the slope to have some Primids join you. Defeat them and break the blocks to reveal a tunnel. Smash open the Item Box and ride the elevator at the end. Oh gosh, what the heck are those things?! These big totem pole monsters are called Gamygas. You have to destroy their base before you can target the head. They are big and very powerful, especially their laser beam attack. Kill the pair of Gamygas and continue to the right. The next area features platforms and more holes. If you jump down the third hole, you will find a hidden door. Inside is a room filled to the brim with breakable blocks. Destroy the blocks to create a path leading to the four valuable items here. There are trophies, stickers, and even a CD inside here. Exit after collecting your prizes and continue across the holes. The blocks with arrows on them clearly mean that they will fall once you step on them, so quickly run across them to reach the other side of the giant gap. Go to the right to reach a room filled with lava. Cross the platforms as you hop over the fireballs that spit up from the lava. Defeat the Flame Primid at the entrance to the next tunnel. Flame jets are common here, so run through when the jets stop. There are switches here that stop the flame jets for an extended period of time, so run through the tunnel as you hit each switch to get through safely. When you reach the end of the fiery room, fall down the shaft (trust me, the arrows know what is best for you). Walk forward to get ambushed by some lesser enemies. Once they are toast, enter the next section to find some Nagagos. Luckily, you can use the Rail Balls to make short work of them. After, jump onto the platform for a third ambush. Just some Primids and Glires/Glices. After KOing everyone, head down the slope and jump onto the stone platforms. They will rise in the air, initiating another enemy ambush. Just some Armights and Glires. When the platform stops and the enemies cease, jump into the hallway and ride the elevator at the end. Enter the door at the end. Dash down the empty road for another cutscene. Lucas and Pokemon Trainer spot the entrance to the ruins, but they are stopped by Wario. Lucas finally grows a pair and challenges Wario. Wario is not that tough, but he is surprisingly quick. Since he has no long-ranged attacks, try to keep him away from you. Nothing too problematic here. Once the heroes beat Wario, he is reverted to a trophy (nooo!!!) and the duo agree to enter the ruins. Back at Dedede's pad, he polishes off his trophy collection and puts weird badges on them. I wonder what they are. Well, we don't have time to find out, because Bowser invades the place and Dedede gets knocked cold. ============================================================================== THE CAVE ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Kirby, Link, Mario, Pit, Yoshi Once the fab five (err... >_>) crash into Dedede's castle, they find out that they're a little late. At the start of the level, walk a little bit. However, stop when you reach a hole in the ceiling. A massive boulder will drop down, so make sure it doesn't fall on your noggin. Move down the hill and run away from the crushing ceiling. After defeating the Goombas up ahead, climb up the ladder to find yourself at another ambush. There are plenty of Goombas and Paratroopas to keep you company. Once the ambush ends, slide down the ladder on the right and proceed towards a big shaft. The ceiling will begin to close on you, so quickly drop down the platforms to the bottom of the shaft, where another shaft lies. This time, you have to climb up while the floor rises. Not too difficult. A third shaft is in front of you, so dive down into the safety of the tunnel. There is an Orange Box at the bottom of the shaft, but it may be too difficult to get with the ceiling looming over you. KO the Goombas and ascend the ladder to another tunnel. There are walls here that move to the left. They are too high to jump over, but each one has a hole cut out so you can move through. There is an Item Box in the center of the tunnel. Cross all of the moving walls to the opposite side, then destroy the enemies and enter the door. Woo, dangerous! Pick up the key in front of you, then avoid the flames and spike trap and unlock the gate leading to another door. This next section of the cave is filled with poisonous fog. However, you can usually turn it off by hitting a nearby switch. Hit the switch to lower the fog in front of you, then climb up the platforms to the top. Some of the platforms are a little... unstable. Some enemies will attack you at the top. Get rid of them and start up the platforms to the left. Lower the poisonous fog by hitting the switch on the left wall and continue to the top. Dodge the Bullet Bills as they come your way and you'll come to another switch. Hit it to lower the fog above you, then jump up to where it once was and run past. More fog up ahead, right under a ceiling that lowers. Hit the switch and quickly pass by. The next switch is inside the poison fog, so run in and hit it to make the fog dissipate. Two Giant Goombas will appear, so defeat them before the fog appers again. If they aren't defeated in time, just hit the switch again. Move forward and jump across some platforms to reach a giant ferris wheel. Ride the platforms to the right side of the wheel, then hop onto a platform leading to the opposite end of the room. Go through this next passage and watch out for rolling boulders from above. Use the alcoves in the ceiling to jump over them. Hit the switch at the top of the hill to reveal a door and go inside. Collect the Item Box and Orange Box, then return to the previous area. Take the path under the door and enter the yellow door. Another cutscene begins as the level ends. ============================================================================== THE RUINS ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Lucas, Pokemon Trainer Get ready! Take the elevator to the basement and ride the mine cart... right into a wall. You'll be fine (aside from falling down a giant hole) as you crash into a pool of water. KO the Borboras and enter the room ahead. As you make your way inside, the entrance closes. Not good. Walls will rise and lower in this room, so go through without getting crushed. There is a trophy lying on a ledge that descends from the ceiling; it's shaped like a backwards "L". Once you exit, avoid the spikes in the next room and head up the steps. There are more spike traps on each step, so either jump over them or run underneath. Run under the closing wall, Indiana Jones style (though you don't have a whip...) and break open the Item Box. Next, enter the square room in front of you. The room will begin to move across a large hole, so keep yourself occupied by killing Floows. When the room moves towards the right side of the pit, exit into the hall before it rotates back to the other side. Next, follow the arrows down a pit. There are three switches down here; each lowers a section of the floor. Hit the switch on the right to lower the floor and reveal a door. As you fall, go through the door. Another scrolling room. As the screen moves, jump over the flame jets and kill the Mites. Destroy the blocks in front and avoid the Jyks. You'll eventually reach a mine cart. There is an Orange Box near the mine cart, so break it open before hopping inside. Once in the cart, watch as it barrels down the track and jump as the "!" appears. When you reach a platform with a Fire Primid on it, kill the monster and wait as the platform moves down. As it descends the pit, avoid the spiky crystals growing on the walls. It's a pretty long descent, but two Metal Primids appear at the halfway mark. There is a door on the left side of the hole, so quickly go inside to find an Item Box/Orange Box. Exit and fall down the hole. NOTE: After completing the Subspace Emissary, return to this area in The Ruins. There will be a door floating above the bottom of the pit. Enter the door and defeat Wolf inside to unlock him as a fighter. Two giant Bytans drop down after you, so smash them and head to the right. Avoid the Glires along the way, for the tunnel you're moving through doesn't provide you with much room. Exit the tunnel into a large room to trigger a scene. Pokemon Trainer catches a helpless Ivysaur (trophy), so now you can use a new character! As Ivysaur, jump onto the moving platform and kill the enemies that come your way. This platform takes a while to get to the other side, so you'll be fighting plenty of Armights and other thugs. The final obstacle are some Shaydas. They aren't too tough on their own, but the prescence of flame jets certainly don't help your cause. Once the platform stops, get off and break open the Item Box for some health. Hit the switch ahead of you to open a gate. Go through and hit another switch, which opens the gate ahead of you and closes the one behind you. Be quick, because the gates will close on you. Activate the next switch and run through, then destroy the Bororas. There are two switches in front, so hit 'em both and run past the two gates. There is a switch at the bottom of a series of platforms. Hit it, then climb the platforms to reach another open gate. Go through. Defeat the Bytans and hit the two switches, then run through the gate and down the platforms. Run to the right to reach a Roturret and three switches on the ground. Don't hit any of the switches, because doing so will make the floor disappear and send you to your death. After killing the Roturret, go forward to find a sleeping Towtow. After killing him, a second one will appear alongside a pair of Shaydas. Dodge constantly and defeat the three enemies. Once the coast is clear, continue through the red door. You will be tossed in a battle against Charizard. This Pokemon is powerful and can easily get away with his multiple jumps, so watch yourself when fighting him. Once you defeat Charizard, a cutscene starts where Pokemon Trainer catches him. The two run into a giant circular room as the cutscene comes to a close. ============================================================================== THE WILDS ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Ike, Marth, Meta Knight A large vehicle resembling a motorcycle rides through the desert. Who knows what that thing possibly is. As the level begins, slice through the Primids and Buckots. Defeat the Gamyga that appears and follow the arrows as you drop into a canyon. Some Trowlons try to drag you to the top, so avoid them alltogether. Once at the bottom, enter the cave and defeat the two Roaders. Break the Item Box and exit out the other side. As soon as you exit the cave, jump up to the ledge above you. Continue up the side of the wall to reach a door. Go inside to find an Item Box and an Orange Box, then leave. Drop back down and go forward. The sandstorm along with enemies makes it tough to proceed, but it's possible. Break the blocks to find an Orange Box and move across the platform. Sets of floating mines will move around in a pattarn, so try and avoid them as best as possible. When you reach the wall, make your way up the platforms to the other side of the canyon. You can even use a Trowlon to make a quick ascent! An Armank is waiting for you at the top. A strange green blob is tucked inside of the tank, so start attacking it once it's exposed. Eventually, a giant arm will pop out of the tank. Begin by attacking the arm; once it's destroyed, the green blob will come out of hiding again. Attack the blob to destroy the Armank. After, fall down to the right. After the long fall, speed across the falling platforms and enter the door. Go forward and kill the Auroros and Towtow. Continue past the moving pillars and follow the arrow down some platforms. The screen will scroll again as boulders fall from above. To know when they are about to fall, pay attention to the pebbles and dust that appears from above. When you reach the bottom, a Big Primid and some smaller ones will attack. Defeat them and enter the tunnel. Kill (or avoid) the Bombeds, then exit the tunnel by entering the Launcher Barrel. Navigate across the chasm using the Launcher Barrels to reach another tunnel. Enter the door at the end. Break the Item Box for a Heart Container and head through a second door for a cutscene. The three fighters encounter the strange motorcycle thing, which transforms into a menacing robot! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS: Galleom ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Galleom is HUGE and takes up a lot of room in the stage. He is also fast for a guy his size, so try and be on the defensive for a lot of this battle. His most obvious attack are probably his missile launcher. Galleom will shoot out big missiles, usually in groups of two, at your location. Dodge or simply run away from their explosions. Galleom also loves to jump around. He'll either make one big jump to the other side of the stage or take three short hops. If you're facing against the latter, try and jump over him or dodge his feet. He also isn't shy to transform into his vehicle form. If Galleom transforms into the weird motorcycle, get ready to jump over as it speeds to the opposite side of the arena. Sometimes, Galleom will fire missiles after changing into the vehicle, so you definitely have to watch out for that as well. Apparently Galleom is a fan of Luigi, because he adopts one of the green plumber's taunts as an attack. Galleom will stand on his toes and stiffen up as he falls face first to the ground. Avoid the attack by standing on the other side of the stage. I just find this attack to be downright hilarious. Pay attention to Galleom's arm movements for his other attacks. If he raises his arms above his head, then he is getting ready to slam them in the ground. It is very easy to spot and not too threatening. If he extends his arms to his side, then Galleom is getting ready to spin around like a ballerina. He does not move far during the attack. Galleom has a second spin attack that is much more dangerous than the first. He will spin for a split second, then create a shockwave by pounding the ground. The best way to avoid the attack is to stay far away and jump over the shockwave. Galleom's attacks are quick and he doesn't pause long before performing each one (unlike other bosses). The best way to fight Galleom is from a distance, but the three characters here don't have many projectile attacks. Ike is definitely a good choice to fight Galleom because he is a brute. You must practice your dodges in order to fight up close with Galleom, because you will be dodging every second in this fight. Basically any of Ike's attacks are best and Marth can use Shield Breaker and Smash Attacks. Meta Knight is a weak character overall, but you can use his speed to your advantage. Have Meta Knight use his quick Smash Attacks and aerials to fight Galleom and still have enough time to block or run away. I'd say that this is the hardest boss battle yet, but with enough practice and good timing, you will come out on top. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After winning the battle, Galleom acts all macho and ends up crashing through the floor into darkness. What a chump. ============================================================================== THE RUINED HALL ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Lucas, Pokemon Trainer As the two look up, they see something falling from above. Hey look, it's Galleom. Now that's just some bad placement right there. The bot is still alive and kickin', so he challenges Lucas and Pokemon Trainer to a fight. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS: Galleom ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wow, deja vu much? Two minutes after defeating Galleom in a fight, you have to do battle with the evil transformer again. This fight is basically the same as the previous one. He still has all his old attacks, so look up to read about them. Galleom somehow learned one new attack during his fall. If he drags his fist into the ground, watch out. He'll then uppercut the air. If you're caught in the attack, you will be sent straight into the air. It is very powerful, so either air dodge or avoid him alltogether. The stage is about the same size (maybe even a little bigger), but we are clearly using new characters to fight him. Lucas has some nice ranged attacks, so attack with PK Freeze or PK Fire. Hell, even propelling yourself into Galleom with PK Thunder works nicely. Lucas also has powerful Smash Attacks that can be utilized. The best game plan when fighting Galleom is to select Pokemon Trainer and use Charizard. If you want an incredibly easy fight, walk up to Galleom and spam Rock Smash (Side B). This attack is insanely powerful and takes massive chunks out of Galleom's health. Plus, Charizard is a heavyweight and can take a lot of damage before getting launched with ease. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Once Galleom is humiliated a second time, he will grab Ness and Pokemon Trainer in a suicide dive. He activates a Subspace Bomb in his head and jumps in the air, but Lucas frees himself and Pokemon Trainer as Galleom explodes. Heh, idiot. ============================================================================== THE WILDS ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Kirby, Link, Mario, Pit, Yoshi After a cutscene with the Ancient Minister, the level will begin. Use the Rail Balls to dispose of any enemy that you catch sight of. The stage scrolls, so be aware of your time. When you reach the moving Rail Ball, use it to break apart the blocks in your way. Now break the blocks below you and hop onto the moving platform. Some Feyeshes will ambush you, no biggie. When you reach the end of the road, you'll be presented with three elevators. Ride the middle one and as it goes up, drop out of it immediately. Run underneath the spot where the elevator was to find a hidden door. Go inside to find a Rail Ball. Use it to create a path leading to both an Item Box and an Orange Box. Leave and break the blocks on the right to find a ladder leading back up to the elevators. Ride the one on the left to reach the top of the room. There are some Puppits and Tickens here, but you can use the giant Rail Ball to easily kill them. Jump over the gap and fight the Shellpod, then enter the red door. You will appear next to a white platform. Jump on to ride through a canyon. Jump down at the end of the ride and kill the Primids and Nagagog. Enter the trap-filled cave at the end. The spike traps will drop to the ground like Thwomps, so avoid them as you make your way through. This can be annoying due to the strong winds of the sandstorm. Once you get out, you'll be ambushed by Scope Primids and a Greap. Always stay moving to avoid getting pushed into the spikes on the right by the wind. Once the ambush ends, continue along to a series of platforms. Ride them through a large chasm. As you enter the chasm from below, the walls will begin to close in on you. When the platform stops, jump up to avoid being crushed. Take care of the Bytans by destroying the portal that they're coming out of. Break the blocks above you to reach the top. To the left is a hidden Orange Box and to the right is the main path. Defeat the Spaaks and run to the right (watch out for Roaders!) to finish the level. The heroes narrowly escape getting blasted into Subspace. ============================================================================== THE SWAMP ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Diddy Kong, Fox, Falco Pick your character and walk to the right. There are plenty of Goombas and Koopas to fight here. When you reach the updraft, let it take you across the gap. Once you're on the other side, turn around and fall down the gap. There's a small alcove on the right side of the gap that holds an Orange Box. Open it and destroy the blocks to return to the surface. Ride the wooden swings across the gaps. It's very simple here. You're either crossing gaps with swimgs or leaves. Once you reach the end of the line, go through the door. Defeat the Hammer Bro. and ride the platform across the hole. Next, use the series of ladders to cross the pit. Beware though, because there are lots of Bullet Bills that try and knock you off the ladders. At one point, you can use a recovery move to reach an Item Box under a ledge. Continue across the ladders and ride the platform to the right. You'll get ambushed by Koopas, Floows, and Puppits. Avoid stepping on the zipper so you don't fly off the screen. Once everyone is dead, climb up the platform as the screen scrolls up. Ride the platforms and climb the moving ladders until you reach a door to the left. Head inside to find an Item Box/Orange Box combo, then leave. Continue up the ladder and destroy the blocks blocking your path. Climb the stairs, break the blocks, and go inside the door. Fox and Diddy are walking down a road that doesn't resemble any of the areas we were just in. Weird. Anyways, Diddy gets turned into a trophy by Bowser's weird arrow gun thing. Shadow Bugs turn Diddy's trophy into a giant, evil version of the simian. Just as he's about to smash it up, Falco appears and helps his comrade (and a revived Diddy Kong) fight a giant, evil Diddy. Fighting the giant Diddy Kong is just like fighting a giant enemy in Classic Mode. They are big and take take a LOT of punishment. Like, expect to get him around 350% before being able to knock him around. The good news is that it's nearly impossible to miss him, so you can hit him with everything high 'n low. After defeating the doppleganger, Diddy drags Falco along for the adventure... literally! As you start, enter the mine cart in front of you and jump out at the end of the track. Run through the stream as you defeat the Koopas and Paratroopas along the way. Ride the chain of zippers to another ambush point. You will be fighting a few Hammer Bros. here. After the ambush, jump into the Launcher Barrel and rocket to the right. Go through the series of Launcher Barrels and avoid the Jyks in the way until you reach a door. NOTE: After completing the Subspace Emissary, return to this area in The Swamp. There will be a door above a platform just after the first Launcher Barrel. Enter the door and defeat Jigglypuff inside to unlock her as a fighter. Once you go through the door, you'll be in an area filled with springs. Use them to cross the water and avoid enemies. Once you reach the fourth set of springs, jump on them to reach a platform containing an Orange Box. Follow the arrow up by springing onto the high ledge, then springing over the spikes. Next, drop down and break the blocks in the tunnel. Run across the falling platforms and spring across the wooden stakes. Use the three sets of springs to get over the incredibly tall stakes and enter the door to the next section of the swamp. Hop onto the moving platform as it takes you to the right. Bullet Bills and giant bramble stalks will come your way, so dodge them until you reach a platform filled with enemies. KO all of the Paratroopas and Goombas on this platform, then jump to the next one. As you move to the right, giant bramble stalks will emerge from the water and destroy pieces of the platform. It is impossible to sense where or when they're coming, so hopefully you can cross it unscathed. Jump to the gray platform to have it to take you to dry land. The only thing that stands in your way to the level exit is a Giant Goomba, so take him down. - Falco joined your team! ============================================================================== THE RESEARCH FACILITY ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Zero Suit Samus, Pikachu, Samus We're caught! If you remember all the way back when we first came here, the R.O.B. Squad found the intruders and are clearly pissed. Pick your fighter and smash through the R.O.B. Sentries ahead. Hit the switch to turn on the lights, then break the blocks and defeat some R.O.B. Blasters. Watch out for the Glices patrolling the area as well. Hit the switch to illuminate the room and go to the right. Run between the red walls to find some platforms and another switch. Hit it to turn the lights on again. The walls will close and two Big Primids drop down from above. Kill them and wait for the lights to turn off and the walls to open. Proceed to the right and hit the next switch. The configuration of the room will change, so go to the right and wait for the path to open once the lights dim again. Leap across the platforms and hit the switch here. You'll be attacked by some Primid variations and a Roader. Kill 'em all and descend the ladder. Instead of following the arrow, enter the room on the left. Open the Item Box and Orange Box, then leave. Follow the arrow into the room on the right. You'll find some R.O.B. Sentries and R.O.B. Blasters in the hall. Defeat them and enter the next room for a scene. Zero Suit Samus finds her Power Suit! Finally. Before she can don the infamous suit, two Samus clones appear and stop the two. It's a two-on-two battle here, so no worries. Once both clones are defeated, you will be able to control good ol' Samus (I love how the game refers to them as two people or something). Clear the room of R.O.B. Sentries and go to the right. Destroy the blocks on the floor to clear a path for yourself. You will reach an area filled with spikes. Spikes on the ceiling and on the floor! You will have to cross the area using moving platforms. You can stop the platforms by hitting the switches on their sides. Use a long-range weapon to target the switch. Once you reach the end of the room, defeat the R.O.B. Launcher and R.O.B. Blasters and enter the next room. This next room is confusing. There are many platforms that move across the walls, so riding them can get annoying. Ride the first one in front of you to reach a ledge. Run to the right and climb the ladder to a platform. Hit it to make two platforms appear. Ride the one right above you to reach an ambush point. Drop off and KO all the R.O.B. Squad members. Walk to the right to find another switch. Don't hit it; instead jump off of the edge and hug the left wall to land in a hall right below your previous location. Destroy the blocks (revealing a ladder leading to your previous location) and enter the door. Collect the Item Box/Orange Box, then leave. Climb the ladder and hit the switch this time to make another platform appear. Ride it down, and before you reach the bottom of the screen (the platform takes you to your death), jump off to the platform on the left. It will move to the right and eventually go up. Before it takes you offscreen, hop onto the platform to the left. This one will start to go down. Just as you pass another platform to the left, jump on it. See? Told you it was confusing. Ride this one to the right. As it passes a door, listen to the arrow and jump up to the door. Go inside to reach another room. Alright, this spot has two teleporters you can take. Use the one above you, which takes you to a dead end and an Orange Box. Collect the contents inside and leave. Take the other teleporter. Defeat the enemies in this seemingly empty room to make two teleporters appear. Take the one on the right. Use the springs in this room to reach the very top. Along the way, you have to deal with members of the R.O.B. Squad. Take the lone teleporter to the next area. Ride the moving platform to an island with another teleporter. Ignore it and continue riding the platform to the left side of the room. As a note, the teleporter here takes you to the first teleporter room (to be more specific, the "dead end with the Orange Box" room). Instead, take this teleporter to reach the top of the first room. Hit the switch here to lower a gate below, then backtrack to the previous room. Take the teleporter on the island to reach the dead end room from before. Take the teleporter to reach the first room. Go through the opened gate and enter the door for a gnarly cutscene. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS: Ridley ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ah Ridley, one of my favorite video game villians of all time. Lucky for you, he is strangely easy. Like, the easiest boss next to Petey Piranha. Ridley is kinda like Master Hand in which he will spend all his time floating on one side of the stage before attacking. This gives you a lot of time to damage him. The Space Pirate does have several attacks that you need to watch out for. The first is a very simple attack: Ridley will scrape the ground as he changes sides. This isn't a main attack, but it can hurt you. The next attack is where Ridley will perform a backflip in midair. It has very little range and deals very little damage. Ridley also has an oldschool attack where he digs his sharp tail into the ground and drills along. If Ridley does this, try and roll between the tail becuase it's hard to jump over him. Also similar to Master Hand, Ridley takes one of his attacks. If you see Ridley slam to the ground, that means he's getting ready to fly in the background. When he flies in the background, dodge as he flies towards the screen to avoid getting hit. If you get hit, your character will become dizzy. Ridley has another similar move. If he slams to the ground, he will jump and slam back down instead of flying into the background. Simply air dodge. Ridley also flies horizontally across the stage. If he turns around and goes offscreen, that means he's getting ready to dash straight across the stage. Ridley's final attack doesn't hurt you, but he will create a gust of wind with his loud battle cry. Just don't let it push you off the edge. Like I already said, Ridley is a very easy boss. While a few of his attacks go unwarned, he floats around doing nothing a lot, giving you plenty of time to attack him. Use aerials for Samus and Pikachu's Thunder to deal nice amounts of damage to Ridley. If you can reach him, Smash Attacks are always a good idea. It shouldn't take long to defeat the leader of the Space Pirates. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Once Ridley is defeated, he will crash to the ground in a fiery mess. Samus and Pikachu finally leave the Research Facility. - Samus joined your team! ============================================================================== OUTSIDE THE ANCIENT RUINS ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Captain Falcon, Olimar, Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong A large gathering of Pikmin are seemingly raving on top of a giant R.O.B. statue. Those crazy things. Oh wait, that's right: Olimar is only a few inches tall and that's just a normal robot. The R.O.B. wakes up and knocks all the Pikmin off. Before it can do any more damage, Captain Falcon shows up and unleashes a massive FALCON PAWWWNNCH on its metal ass, killing more helpless Pikmin in the process. I hate those lil' things... After choosing your character, the level will begin in a dense area. Take out the R.O.B. Sentry up front and kill the R.O.B. Launcher on the steps. When you reach the thin bridge, press Down to drop through and enter the door here. As you fall down the shaft, land to the side of the middle and grab the trophy here. Exit the room and continue to the right. Defeat the R.O.B. Blasters and the Gamyga that rises from the ground. Climb the ladder at the end to get ambushed by a Shellpod and some Auroroses. After, kill the various R.O.B. enemies in front of you. More foes to fight here, including another Gamyga. Enter the red door at the end of the road. Captain Falcon and Olimar witness a band of heroes free an imprisoned Donkey Kong. They agree to help out the good cause. However, there are plenty of Primids to go around... You will have to defeat a number of enemies before you can proceed, similar to the events in Stage One. Most of the enemies you have to fight on the cruiser are various forms of Primids, so they aren't too tough. You also have to fight Trowlons, Bombeds, and Shaydas here. The final three enemies are Metal Primids, so keep your guard up until you can vanquish all enemies. Once you do, the level will end. Hm, that was a short one. - Captain Falcon joined your team! - Donkey Kong joined your team! - Olimar joined your team! ============================================================================== THE GLACIAL PEAK ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Ice Climbers, Meta Knight, Lucario Meta Knight views a battle between the Great Fox and the Battleship Halberd and decides to trek the mountain. However, a pair of fighters seem to be ahead of him. The Ice Climbers! Pick your fighter and begin. You can tell we're going to do a lot of climbing, considering we have to get to the mountain's peak. Defeat the Primids down at the base and climb the platforms. Defeat the Shellpod near the blue flag and continue up. Climb up the ladders and grab the Item Box in the alcove before reaching the next blue flag. Watch out for the spike ceiling as you hammer through the Primids. Jump across the spike pits to reach a turquoise flag. Defeat the lone Ticken roaming around and ride the gold platforms. Beware of the Floows that lurk here. When you reach a yellow flag, use the Launcher Barrels to well... launch further up the mountain. You will eventually get to a second yellow flag. Take out the two Tickens and go up the platforms. Eliminate the three Floows and enter the door at the top. We aren't at the top of the mountain just yet! Jump onto the platform above you to start a comfy ride. Well, not that comfy. You will have to dodge ice crystals forming on the walls and battle enemies. When the platform stops moving, hop onto the ledge to the right. You will have to use ice formations to climb the mountain. The ice blocks will move in and out of the walls, so be quick with your jumps. Break the Item Box along the way and continue up the mountain to reach a door at the top. Use the Launcher Barrel above to rocket in the air. Aim to the right to find a group of blocks concealing a door. Break the blocks and enter the door to obtain an Item Box/Orange Box combo. Exit the room, then jump to the ladder on the left. Climb it to reach not only a yellow flag, but a plethora of ladders! Use the ladders on your ascent while you avoid (or kill) the Glires patrolling the platforms along the way. When you reach the next yellow flag, you'll be attacked by some Shaydas. After destroying them, jump up to the next yellow flag. The wind here is very strong and can easily push you around, so be wary of it when patrolling the environments. Enter the door not far past the flag. There is a giant icicle in the center of the room that dips into the water. It is to deep for you to swim around, so there is no way to get to the other side right now. Open the Item Box and jump up to the platform containing Metal Boxes. Hit one to turn metal, then drop past the door and into the water. Your metallic properties will allow you to sink deeper into the water, letting you dive under the icicle. Now that you're on the other side of the room, climb the ladder and grab the trophy, then open the Orange Box at the top. Destroy the blocks on the left and leave the room. Proceed up the mountain to reach an orange flag. Defeat the sleeping Towtows and the Spaaks up here. Hop from platform to platform to reach a black flag and a door. Go through for a cutscene. Meta Knight and the Ice Climbers spot Lucario meditating on the top of the mountain. For some odd reason, Lucario and Meta Knight decide to fight each other. You can choose who you want to play as in this battle, so pick whomever you wish. The only thing you need to worry about other than your opponent is the icy properties of the floor. Make sure you don't slip and fall into the holes, though both fighters have great recovery. Once you win the battle, the two participants shake hands just as the Battleship Halberd crashes at the peak. Lucario and Meta Knight jump on just in time while the Ice Climbers fall off the mountain. - Ice Climbers joined your team! - Lucario joined your team! ============================================================================== THE CANYON ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Kirby, Mario, Pit, Link, Yoshi Ah, this memorable team again. The fab five! The heroes are really starting to band together here as they fight the Primid menace. Pick four fighters and let this "level" commence. The only reason I put quotation marks above is because this level is really only one fight. All you have to do is fight 50 enemies to end the level. The playing field is a small area with a hole in the middle and two platforms, so there is enough free space to move around here. The first group of enemies are simple Primids. Some other variations, such as Boom Primids, are included in this bunch. Feyeshes and Armights start to appear in the canyon, so pay close attention to the Armights. Next, two Big Primids drop down from the sky (just where exactly do they come from up there?). Afterwards, defeat the Fire Primids and Puppits that appear. You will now have to defeat Armights and Puppits while dodging the Glires that move around the perimeter of the arena. The final group of enemies are a single Roturret and many more Big Primids. Four fighters is plenty for this level, so you shouldn't break a sweat here. Well, that was an easy level. ============================================================================== BATTLESHIP HALBERD INTERIOR ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Snake, Lucario, Meta Knight It's Snake! He managed to avoid all troubles up to this point with his trusty cardboard box. Now it's time to do some damage from the inside. Enter the door right next to you. Test out his moves on the Primids down the hall and jump above the two falling blocks. Use the ones on the right to fall down a step, where you will encounter more enemies. There is a ladder and falling blocks to the left of it. Step on the leftmost one to reveal a switch. Hit it to reveal a hidden door below you. Go inside to find an Item Box/Orange Box. After you collect the goodies, exit and climb up the ladder. Defeat any enemies in your way and run to the right. Dash across the falling blocks (don't fall down the pit) and go inside the door for a scene. Snake hides from Lucario and Meta Knight, but the brainiac Pokemon sees past his disguise. Realizing that he isn't a threat, the three team up to fight evil! After picking your characters, fall down the hole and run to the right. There is a path leading downwards, but ignore it for now. Go all the way to the right to find a portal spitting out Bytans. Defeat them all to make a switch appear. Hit it and backtrack to the intersection. Drop down and descend the ladder on the left. There is another portal here, but it spawns Mites instead. Destroy them along with the Primids to make another switch appear. Hit it and climb down the ladder on the left to find an Item Box. Return to the switch and backtrack up the other ladder. This time, go to the right. Defeat the Floows and the portal here to make a third switch appear. Use the springs to reach it and hit it. Before returning to the central area, look to the right of the switch. Destroy the blocks and walk towards the wall to discover a secret passage! It leads to a door, so take it. Inside, defeat the enemies and go down the hall to find an Item Box and an Orange Box. Backtrack to the previous room and use the springs to reach the central area. This time, the middle of the room is now accessible, so open the Orange Box and enter the next area. You will be attacked by a slew of Sword Primids and Shaydas here. After destroying them all, enter the door that appears. Follow the path to the right as you take down the enemies in your way. The various switches here turn on the lights, so hit them if you wish. Proceed through the door at the end of the hall. Look to the right to spot a group of blue gates blocking a door. In order to lower the gates and access the door, you must defeat every enemy in this room. Start off by killing the Bombed next to you. Climb the ladder and kill the Primid here, then drop down to the right. Open the Item Box and eliminate the Nagagog. Walk to the right and hop over the spikes, then climb the ladder to reach a dead end. However, a Metal Primid hangs out here. Kill him, then return to where you killed the Primid from before. Instead of dropping down to where the Nagagog was, jump up the platforms and kill the floating Cymul, then open the Orange Box above it. Climb the ladder to the left and kill the final enemy in the room: a Towtow. Now return to the entrance of the room to find that all of the gates have lowered. Enter the new door to reach the next area. The team enters a room where the two princesses are held, but Shadow Bugs infect the two. You must defeat the evil clones in a fight. This is a normal tag match, so you should know what to do here. Yawn. After rescuing both Peach and Zelda, Snake tells them to stay put. - Snake joined your team! ============================================================================== BATTLESHIP HALBERD EXTERIOR ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Peach, Sheik Peach and Zelda have a hard time deciphering what "stay" means, so they decide to go on a little adventure of their own. Err, may I correct myself: Peach and Sheik. You start off on the side of the ship, so the wind will try and push you away. Time your jumps when trying to reach the door on the right. Walk to the right and avoid the mine as you jump up. You can use the switches here to destroy the mines, so I suggest you do so. From the second switch, go to the right and follow the platforms to find three Item Boxes. Now drop to the floor and go to the right. As you pass by the mines, pay attention to the ceiling. Near the third mine is a large crack in the ceiling. Wait until the mine reaches the ceiling, then detonate it with a projectile (or running into it as a last resort) to destroy a portion of the ceiling, revealing a trophy. Continue to the right and jump to the ledge above you to find an Item Box. Go across the platforms to the right and drop down. There is another Item Box below, so open it and continue forward. Hit the switch here to lower the gate in front of you, then jump past it and enter the door. Run past the imprisoned enemies (neat) and go through the door. Some enemies will ambush you on this platform. Most of them are Primids, but the final set are some Puppits and a Greap. Watch out for the Greap. Once they have been reduced to dust, proceed forward. Collect the Item Boxes here and defeat the Greap, then open a third Item Box. Avoid the flame jets the rest of the way and head through the door at the end of the room. You're back outside again, but the wind is going the opposite direction and will push you to the right. There is an Item Box at the top of the area, so climb up the platforms to the top to find it. After you grab the stuff inside, continue across the platforms to end the level. Haha, epic cutscene right here. Tea solves all of life's problems. - Peach joined your team! - Zelda joined your team! ============================================================================== BATTLESHIP HALBERD BRIDGE ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Falco, Fox, Lucario, Peach, Sheik, Snake Snake finds a bunch of Mr. Game & Watches piloting the Battleship Halberd, so he has no choice but to hip check them out of the cockpit. They retaliate by grouping together to form a massive monster. Boss fight! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS: Duon ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Duon is a very difficult boss, because you have to worry about both sides of the boss. The blue side is equipped with a sword on its forehead, and the pink side has two cannons on its arm. Of course, you will have to recognize the attacks from both sides. Most of the blue side's attacks are close-range and deal with his sword hands and pointy head. His first attack is a simple three- hit slash. When Duon's blue side starts inching towards you, back up. The blue side can also create a shockwave with his hands. If you see him cross his hands, get ready to jump. He will then slash the ground and create a wave. Simply hop over it when it comes your way. The blue side also uses the sword on its head for attacking. He will bend is head down and headbutt the ground. The sword gives the attack a much larger range. The blue side's final attack doesn't require his blades: he'll fire bombs into the air and down to the ground. The pink side is all about using firepower. He will fire missiles out of his back; around four or five will go your way. It's similar to Galleom's missile attack, so dodge it the same way. The pink side will also fire energy shots out of its cannon hands. The attack will start at Duon's base, then angle upwards; the attack stops when Duon's hands are pointed straight ahead. All you need to do is jump, since the shots are never angled up. Duon's pink side will also roll across the stage. If he extends one of his arms out, he'll roll across the stage to the other side. Try to jump over Duon so you don't get trampled. The final attack of the pink side is a nasty one. A blue ball will appear in front of the pink side's head and fire three laser beams. They are very strong and can knock a fighter back far. It is best to roll or dodge these. Duon also has two attacks as a whole. Duon will spin around in a circle. Like Link's Spin Attack, this attack can trap you inside, then knock you away once the move ends. He also jumps into the air and crashes down to the ground, so be aware if you see him crouch. Fighting Duon can be a pain. I find the best way to handle the fight is to attack up close when paired against the pink side and keep your distance when attacking the blue side. It's pretty simple: since the blue side has close- range attacks, stay away and you should be fine. It'll be hard for the pink side to attack you with its projectiles if you're up in their face. You have a load of fighters at your disposal, so you should be fine during this battle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the battle ends, Peach will rescue Mr. Game & Watch. Dance, you crazy little sprite, dance! On top of that, Meta Knight finally gets his beloved ship back. - Mr. Game & Watch joined your team! ============================================================================== THE SUBSPACE BOMB FACTORY ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Pikachu, Samus Pikachu and Samus are still by themselves, but they managed to infiltrate the Subspace Bomb Factory. As the level starts, dismantle the two R.O.B. Sentries that attack you. Ride the elevator down one floor and open the Item Box to the right. Kill the R.O.B. Sentries that appear and take the elevator down to the next floor. This floor is pointless, because to the left is a dead end filled with enemies. Ride it down to the floor below, open the Item Box, and go inside the door here. You will be ambushed in this area, mostly by Primids and members of the R.O.B. Squad. Once they are dead, open the Item Box/Orange Box and leave. Take the elevator to the bottom floor and enter the hall to the right. Take down the Bombeds to reach another elevator. Ride it to the second floor (so skip one floor). Walk to the left and destroy the blocks to find a door. Defeat all the enemies here to find a trophy, then climb the ladder and leave. Ride up all the way to the top floor and head to the left. Defeat the enemies here to make a door appear. Go inside and collect the Item Box/Orange Box. Exit and return to the first floor (not ground level, but the floor that I told you to skip over). Enter the door to the right. There are plenty of enemies here in this room. Defeat the R.O.B. Launchers that stand in your way and cross the platforms. Now KO the R.O.B. Blasters and R.O.B. Sentries over here as well. Once the coast is clear, run to the right to finish the relatively short level. ============================================================================== THE SUBSPACE BOMB FACTORY ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Captain Falcon, Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong, Olimar, Pikachu, R.O.B., Samus As the level starts, run down the walkway and defeat the Autolance and Cymul. Break the blocks in your way until you reach an ambush point. R.O.B. Squad members will attack you on the rotating platforms. Once they have been taken care of, jump onto the second set of rotating platforms. One of them holds a door. Go inside. Break the Item Box/Orange Box and jump to the top of the ledge. Hop onto the lone spring and while you're in the air (off the screen), press any button to attack. You'll destroy a hidden Orange Box. Leave. The screen will start to scroll as you move to the right. You have to cross sets of rotating platforms, but some of them are covered in spikes. Needless to say, don't jump on those. Kill the Cymul guarding the area and go through the door at the end. Run along the conveyor belts and watch out for the spiked pillars that drop down when periodically. Defeat the enemies on the other side to reach a door and a ladder. You cannot enter the door yet; you must activate three pillars to open the door. The first one is actually right above the door. Really high above it. Destroy the blocks above you, but leave some to use as platforms. Hit the red pillar at the top to activate part of the door. Drop back down to the door and slide down the ladder. Go to the right and fight the Buckots on the conveyor belts. At the end of the path is the green pillar. Hit it and return to the ladder, but head left this time. Stepping onto the platform here triggers an ambush. Jyks will patrol the perimeter of the area while you deal with Floows and Armights. Once they are defeated, hit the blue pillar to the left and return to the door. Go through. Proceed to the right and defeat the R.O.B. Squad members. Notice the flame jets on the walls? You can use switches here to turn them on and off. Go forward and hit the switch on the wall to turn the nearby flame jets on, scorching some enemies. Jump over the fire and break the blocks in the way. Climb up a ladder and hit the switch up here, creating a path for you back down on the floor. Run across and kill the giant Bytan, then climb down the ladder. Avoid the zipper for now, because all it'll do is throw you right into a flame jet. Hop over it and hit the switch above to turn the flames off, then use the zipper to reach an elevator. Kill the Bytans on board until the elevator stops and more enemies appear. As you fight them, the walls will begin to close in. To avoid being crushed, hop onto the small platform above you and the portion of the wall will not reach you. Climb the ladder above you once the walls retract. A locked gate is to your right, so go left instead. Break the blocks underneath you to find a key. Use it to open the gate and run forward for a scene. The team will bust the door and drop in to meet up with Samus, Pikachu, and the Ancient Minister. Uhh, a lot of stuff happens, so choose from the slew of fighters once the cutscene ends. You will have to fight 50 enemies here in the factory. The first set are a bunch of Auroroses and Primids. Some Floows and Nagagogs will appear after, then some Primids again. Eventually, you will have to battle two Armanks together. They can be tough, but they're the final two enemies. Once the fight and the cutscene after end, you will have to flee the Subspace Bomb Factory. The screen will scroll down as you fall down a giant pit. It doesn't move that fast, giving you enough time to move through the floors and even fight the enemies along the way. When you reach an elevator, it will slowly move with you. However, parts of the spiked walls will close in on you. To avoid getting skewered, always follow the wall when they close in and stay in the safe spot. After the elevator stops, drop through to find many small platforms. Every time you step on one of these platforms, they fly up. In order to get through without flying offscreen, run off of the platforms as soon as you land on them. Some Cymuls are also present in order to annoy you. You will soon reach a door at the bottom. Another pit here, but mines line the sides of the screen instead of walls. Every time you step on a platform, mines will float to your position. Jump as soon as you land on each platform (or shield yourself from the mines). Once you reach the bottom, follow the straightforward path to another door. Break open the Item Box at the start and continue your descent. Fall to the bottom of the hole for a cutscene. Captain Falcon will command his Falcon Flyer to get everyone out of here, but a familiar face has other plans... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS: Meta Ridley ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The fight with Meta Ridley takes place on the Falcon Flyer, so you have little room to maneuver. This battle is totally different from the one back in the Research Facility, and Meta Ridley has all new attacks. The most basic is when Meta Ridley swoops down near the ship. Since he flies low, there is a good chance that you may hit. The best way to notice if the attack is coming is if he roars first. Meta Ridley also shoots a chain of fireballs your way. They start at the back of the ship, then move towards the front. Dodge and roll. Similar to Meta Ridley's first attack, he will scrape the Falcon Flyer with his razor-sharp talons. If he flies off the screen, get ready to jump over him. In fact, most of Meta Ridley's attacks are determined if he flies off the left side of the screen. Also, he tends to target this Falcon Flyer since I guess his main goal is to destroy the ship. Sometimes he will fly off the screen, then slam down on the back of the ship. If this happens, you will take damage if you do not jump as it happens. Sometimes, Meta Ridley will cling onto the back of the ship and slowly drag it down. He also spits large fireballs out of his mouth. If he drags the ship down for too long, you will be taken offscreen and will be killed. Start attacking Meta Ridley to detach him from the back of the Falcon Flyer. The worst attack is when Meta Ridley flies straight up in the air. He'll slam down onto the Falcon Flyer, knocking the entire ship offscreen. If you don't jump, it is a one-hit KO. Meta Ridley spends the entire fight on the left side of the screen (unless he is performing an attack), so it is very easy to target him since he rarely moves. I feel that there is no need to keep your distance, so stand right under him and perform aerial attacks to dish out the most damage. This is one of the easier fights in the game, but watch out for that one-hit KO of his. In the Subspace Emissary, you have a two-minute time limit to defeat him. That is plenty of time, but there is no time limit during the Boss Battle Mode. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Don't worry, he's gone for good. The good guys escape just as the Subspace Bombs go off, engulfing the entire island. - R.O.B. joined your team! ============================================================================== ENTRANCE TO SUBSPACE ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Captain Falcon, Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong, Falco, Fox, Ice Climbers, Ike, Kirby, Link, Lucario, Lucas, Mario, Marth, Meta Knight, Mr. Game & Watch, Olimar, Peach, Pikachu, Pit, Pokemon Trainer, R.O.B., Samus, Snake, Yoshi, Zelda Okay, now THAT is an epic cutscene. The heroes (well, most of them) are inside Subspace. As the level begins, hop across the creepy platforms (heck, the entire atmosphere is creepy) to start an ambush. Kill the Primids and Floows and move along. The screen will start to slowly move to the right, so follow it as you destroy anything that gets in your way. Don't worry about most of the foes here, but a lot of them are dispensed by portals. Definitely destroy the portals though. Once the path stops, three portals appear and dispense enemies. Destroy the portals and any stragglers before continuing. Not long after, you will be stopped by another ambush. This time, you have to fight Armanks, Big Primids, and Greaps. They are all big, tough guys, so certainly keep your guard up. You should have enough lives to survive the onslaught. After you win, run up the hill and enter the door to finish the level. Here we get another cutscene, where Ganondorf betrays Bowser. We also see the Master Hand! Tabuu shows up not long after and raises hell on everything, including turning all the fighters into trophies! Who will save them now? ============================================================================== SUBSPACE ============================================================================== Playable Characters: King Dedede, Luigi, Ness Back at Dedede's castle, the strange emblems that were put on the trophies here emit a strange light, turning them back into their former selves! Ness and Luigi free Dedede, and all three set off to see just what is going on. This is like a rescue mission, because as the three unlikely heroes, we have to rescue everyone else from their trophy forms. You can run through the level lickidy split, but it is highly recommended to rescue all of the characters so you can use them for the final battle. Pick your characters and as the level begins, go to the right. KO the Glices rolling around the platforms and kill the Bombeds below. You will find the Samus trophy above the door, so grab it and proceed through. Take out the Towtow and climb the transparent swings to find a door. Not only will you find an Orange Box at the bottom, but you also find the Falco trophy and Pit trophy here! Return to the previous room and climb to the top. You can use the Trowlons here to give you a little boost. At the top is the Lucas trophy and a door. In the next area, kill the two Big Primids and hop onto the yellow platform to make some stairs appear. Climb them to an intersection and grab the Donkey Kong trophy above you. Ignore the stairs going to the left and jump up to the platform. Use the springs to destroy the blocks, revealing a door. Go through. Grab the Pokemon Trainer trophy and you will find the Pikachu trophy behind some blocks. Destroy the first one to start a chain reaction. Collect the Pikachu trophy before it falls to the ground and exit. Now step onto the platform that held the Donkey Kong trophy to make another set of stairs appear. Proceed forward to find a door underneath you. Walk to the right, snag the Marth trophy, and run through the door. You will appear in the center of a ring of mines. Use a projectile attack to destroy them all, then get the Olimar trophy underneath you. Grab the Fox trophy as well, then return to the previous room. Destroy the portals that are dispensing Mites here and go to the right. You will soon reach a door. The ground is composed of nothing but falling blocks, so spring across. Jump over the yellow wall and stop at the first door you see. Do not go inside this door yet. We still have a trophy to get here. Hit the block below the door to destroy the others, then hop to the small platform and pick up the Mr. Game & Watch trophy, then enter the door. The screen will scroll here, so you mus be quick when snagging trophies. Take the Diddy Kong trophy above the entrance and run to the right to find the Captain Falcon trophy. Grab it and enter the door below. Pick up the Mario trophy to make a flight of stairs appear. Enter the door on the other side. A cutscene will begin with the trio and Bowser. It's the battle of the kings here. As King Dedede, defeat Bowser in a standard brawl. This is nothing new, so get rid of him as quickly as possible. Bowser can act as tough as he wants, but a whack on the nose is all that's needed to put him in his place. - Luigi joined your team! - Ness joined your team! - Bowser joined your team! - King Dedede joined your team! ============================================================================== SUBSPACE ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Kirby Kirby wakes up and realizes that he ate one of King Dedede's metal emblems. What luck. Now it's up to the pink ball to save his friends! At the start, float up and snag the Peach trophy and jump up to the ledge. Use an item dropped by the Bombeds here to destroy the mines blocking your way. Grab the Zelda trophy behind the wall of mines and continue to the right. Collec the Meta Knight trophy behind another pair of mines and take the Orange Box below it. Next, destroy the enemy portal to the right and enter the door past it. Destroy the blocks below you to find the Link trophy, then fall down to the second set. Break them as well, collect the Yoshi trophy, and continue downward. Pick up the Lucario trophy here and fall down. Once at the bottom, defeat the Fire Primids and Spaaks that ambush you. After defeating them, the screen will begin to scroll again. Follow the many platforms here to reach another ambush point. Slay everyone and continue to find the R.O.B. trophy and a door. Get the trophy and head to the next area. Hop onto the zipper near the door to rocket forwards. Hit the Rail Ball above you to find the Ice Climbers trophy. There are some Shellpods below and a zipper above you, but take the bottom path because there is another Orange Box down here in the corner. Get the contents inside and float up to the ledge. Break the next Rail Ball to get the Snake trophy and run forward. Destroy the Roturret and the two portals that spit out Bytans. Step onto the platform here to make a staircase appear. Climb up the steps and KO the Gamyga and Tickens above. Run to the right, take the Wario trophy, and go through the level exit for a cutscene. Link and Zelda agree to free Ganondorf (after Bowser smashes it around) and show him what happened to Master Hand. Ganondorf does not like being used. Everyone climbs up the big staircase towards that weird shiny light. - Ganondorf joined your team! - Wario joined your team! ============================================================================== THE GREAT MAZE ============================================================================== Playable Characters: Bowser, Captain Falcon, Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong, Falco, Fox, Ganondorf, Ice Climbers, Ike, King Dedede, Kirby, Link, Lucario, Lucas, Luigi, Mario, Marth, Meta Knight, Mr. Game & Watch, Ness, Olimar, Peach, Pikachu, Pit, Pokemon Trainer, R.O.B., Samus, Snake, Wario, Yoshi, Zelda ___________ ___________ _ ______________ |____N______| |_______L___| |C| __________ ___ | * E | _____________ |_| | B | | | |______________| _________ |______*__M___| |__________| | D | ___________ |_____G___| ________ __ |___| |__F________| _______ ____ |___I____| ___ __ | | _______ ______ ___ |_____Q_| |_H_*| ___ | KK| |A*| | || * MM | | NN | |__R| _______ _ | J | __ |___| |LL||_______| |______| | S | | | |___| |* | ____________ | | |_______| |O| | K| |_____JJ_____||__| ______ ______ |_| |__| ______ ______ ________ |___V__| __ | U | _________ | | |___DD_| | | |_T| |______| |_P_______| | FF | ________ | CC | ______ _______________________ _______ | * ||___EE___| |________| |* W | |_____BB________________| |___GG__| |______| ____________ |______| ____ ___ _________________ |_______X____| |_Z__| |AA_| | HH | __________ _______________________________________ |_________________| |_____II___| |________Y______________________________| The Great Maze is just what it sounds (it's not so great to me, but that's beside the point). Tabuu threw everyone in here, and it's your job to get out of here. In order to do so, you must visit every room and defeat all of the evil versions of the characters. Along the way are what I like to call "Safe Zones". In Safe Zones, you can heal and save your game as well as teleport to other safe zones. You can also change your characters here. They are marked with an asterik ( * ) on the ASCII map above. You start off in room "A". ROOM A: Safe Zone. Since you don't need healing yet, save your game and enter the door that's all smoky. You will fight Petey Piranha. Refer to Section 6 in order to beat him. Some more doors will appear after the fight. The orange door with the yellow circle in the center will bring you back to the Safe Zone. Instead, enter the red door to the right. ROOM B: There are two ways to go. Take the left path, defeating the Goombas and Koopas along the way, until you reach a door. Go on inside. You will fight an evil version of Pit inside this arena. After you defeat him, you'll end up in Room C. ROOM C: Break open the Orange Box above you and climb up the clouds. Watch out for the Jyks here. Open the second Orange Box and exit the room. ROOM B: Okay, back here. Now go to the right this time. Some Primids and Goombas will get in your way here, but they really should not be that big of a problem. At the end of the path is a door, so go on through. ROOM D: Take the bottom path to find a Greap. Take his big ass out and enter the shadowy door. Defeat Kirby inside and you will return here. Now go up, getting the Orange Box along the way. Climb the clouds and jump to the purple one, which shoots you up to another door. Defeat Link inside to reach the next room. ROOM E: You will enter a large field. Take out the Puppit and Shellpod ahead. Enter the orange door to reach a Safe Zone. When you are ready, leave and go to the right. Go inside the Up Door. ROOM F: Looks similar to Room E, but they are two different rooms. Break the blocks inside of the tree and return to the previous room. ROOM E: Walk through the tree to find an Orange Box, then return through the Up Door. ROOM F: Okey dokey, now walk to the right. There are some Auroroses and Primids here. Clear everyone out of the way and go inside the Down Door floating in the air. ROOM E: There are some enemies in this small area, but there is no need to kill them. The only reason I told you to go through here is so that you connected the two parts of the room together. Go back to Room F. ROOM F: Run through the tree and proceed through the Down Door. ROOM E: Wow, this is getting annoying. Take down the Armights and destroy all of the green blocks. Now backtrack to Room F. ROOM F: Hop across the spikes and destroy the blocks inside the tree. Enter the Down Door past the tree. ROOM E: The green blocks can be destroyed. Destroy the two columns closest to the tree and go inside the Up Door again. ROOM F: The gray stones should be gone (well, the ones that you destroyed) and a path through the lower part of the tree should be open. Head to the other side of the tree and destroy the blocks above you. Return to Room E. ROOM E: Run through the upper path and enter the door. You will battle Yoshi inside. After he's defeated, you will end up back here again. Go through the Down Door behind you again. ROOM F: Run through the lower path and go inside the red door. ROOM G: Why, it's another field! Use the Rail Balls to dispose of the Buckots and Roaders here. Destroy the Gamyga with similar tactics and run to the right. Collect the Orange Box along the way and you'll reach a door at the end. You will fight Diddy Kong in here. Defeat him to reach the next room. ROOM H: We finally get a cozy room here. There are many ways to go, but no enemies to deal with. Enter the Safe Zone in the center, then take the northeast exit. You will fight Duon. Refer to Section 6 in order to beat him. ROOM I: The wind may be strong here, but all we have to do is enter the door right below you. ROOM J: Drop down the platforms and go to the right to reach a hole. Defeat the Buckots and Primid variations. Fall down and climb down the ladder to the left to find a portal. Get rid of it, then climb down the next ladder to find a door. Inside, you'll fight Snake. After defeating him, you'll be right back here. Climb up the two ladders, then descend the main ladder in the center of the room. Enter the door down here, but not before taking the Orange Cube. ROOM K: Run to the right, past the elevator, and enter the Safe Zone. After you heal/save, return to the elevator and go down. Run to the right and fall down the pit, and as you fall, break the blocks to the left. Hop into the alcove and grab a key. Fall down and ride the elevator back up, then unlock the gate to your left. Drop down the hole here to find a door. Go inside to fight Mr. Game & Watch. After you win, return to Room J. ROOM J: Nothing to do here. Return to Room I. ROOM I: Now make your way to the right and make your way through the door. You will fight Meta Knight here. Win the battle to reach the next room. ROOM L: Use the springs to get over the wooden stakes, then take the lower path (underneath the wooden structure) to find an Orange Box. Defeat the Primids and Buckots as you make your way to the left. You'll find a door in the base of a stone building of sorts, but don't go inside yet. Instead, jump onto the building and enter the door at the end of the room. You will fight Ness inside. Once you come out victorious, return to the other door and head through. ROOM M: Destroy the blocks under you and run to the left. Take care of the enemies to reach an icy area. A ladder leads up to a gate here, but you can't get past the gate. Go to the left and climb up the second ladder you see. Hit the switch to lower a gate to the left side of a door. Hit the second gate to gain full access to the door. Inside is a Safe Zone. When you're ready, leave and continue to the left through the door. ROOM N: Walk down the road. Either destroy the boxes or simply jump over them. There are plenty of enemies to keep you company. After a while, a Gamyga rises up from the ground, so get rid of it. When you reach the door at the end, go through. You'll fight Porky. Refer to Section 6 in order to beat him. After you win, you will end up in a previous room. ROOM G: Go to Room H. ROOM H: Heal and save at the Safe Zone if needed. When you are ready, take the southeast door. ROOM O: Slide down the ladder and eliminate the pesky Mites. As you fall down the room, avoid the mines in your way. You will fight Captain Falcon here, so beat him to reach Room P. ROOM P: Follow the straightforward path here. There aren't that many enemies here, but watch out for the spinning mines at the bridge. You should probably destroy them with an item or projectile. At the end of the room, enter the door to fight Olimar. After the win, return to Room O. ROOM O: Return to Room H. ROOM H: It's the Safe Zone area, so do whatever you need to do here. Enter the southwest door. ROOM Q: Use the updraft to your advantage here and take down the Hammer Bro. Make your way across the swings and you will reach two arrows. Follow the purple one first and enter the door to the left. Donkey Kong is inside, so defeat him in battle. ROOM R: This is a very imporant room, so keep it in the back of your mind. You can keep track of how many fighters and bosses you have beaten here; the fighters in the background are ones that you have not defeated yet. Return to Room Q once you're done checking this place out. ROOM Q: Take the path under you by destroying some blocks and go through the door here. You'll fight Samus in this area. Once you beat her, you will appear in a different room. ROOM S: Eliminate the Primid forces in front of you and jump over the gap. Don't worry about going down yet. Run to the right to find a door. Go inside and defeat Pikachu to end up back here again. Return to the gap and fall down to the next floor. Take the elevator down, fight the Big Primid, and enter the Safe Zone on the left. Now go to the right and through the door. ROOM T: Hit the red pillar here and enter the door to the right. ROOM U: Run across the conveyor belts and ignore the endless stream of Mites that come out of the machines. Run to the intersection and take the southeast path to find an Orange Box. Now jump up the platforms to reach the north end. When you get to a ladder, you can find a hidden Orange Box tucked away in the machinery to the left. Open it and climb the ladder to reach the green pillar. After hitting it, enter the door to the right. You'll fight R.O.B. inside. Once you win, return to Room T. ROOM T: One more to go until this door opens! Enter the door to the left. ROOM V: Hop across the platforms and KO the Scope Primids. Hit the blue pillar and open the Item Box for some health. Leave the room. ROOM T: The door in the center should be working, so go through. You will fight Ridley. Refer to Section 6 in order to beat him. ROOM W: Enter the Safe Zone as you drop down and heal/save your game. Walk to the left to find a switch. Hit it to lower the poisonous fog below you, then fall down the shaft and go in the door. ROOM X: The tunnel to the left is filled with flame jets, so hit every switch you see along the way to turn them off. Of course, this place is also filled with enemies, so watch your tail. At the end is a door. You will fight Bowser inside. When you come out victorious, return to the door leading to Room W. Before going through, drop down the hole below to find another door. Enter. ROOM Y: This entire room is composed of one mine track. All you need to do is ride the various mine carts through the entire thing. Once at the end, go inside the lone door. Defeat King Dedede inside. ROOM Z: Climb up the platforms and destroy the Feyeshes that follow. Enter the area to the left and spring your way across the spikes. Enter the door right underneath the wooden pier overlooking the water. Defeat Falco inside to reach another room. ROOM AA: You can find two Heart Containers in this room, but you must act quick before they fall into the water. ROOM Z: Spring up to the door on the left. ROOM BB: Again, two paths to take. Start off by going to the right. Shoot yourself from Launcher Barrel to Launcher Barrel until you end up next to a shadowy door. Head on through to find Fox. Beat him to return here again. Now take the left path and ride the zipper. Use the Launcher Barrel to shoot up to a mine cart, but enter the door behind it. You will fight Meta Ridley. Refer to Section 6 in order to beat him. ROOM W: Do your business at the Safe Zone, then enter the door just past the switch on the left. You'll fight Dark Mario here. Beat him to move on. ROOM CC: Hop up the platforms while you avoid the boulders that fall down. A surefire sign is when you see dust fall from above. When you reach the top, walk to the left and defeat the Gamyga. Enter the door at the end of the path. ROOM DD: The wind is very strong here, so don't let it push you into any of the spiked walls. Move forward and defeat the Primids and Bombeds. Take down the Nagagog farther down the path and go inside the door at the end. ROOM EE: As you exit the cave, defeat the Armights and use the various Rail Balls to destroy the tough blocks that stand in your way. Take out the Bucculusses near the door and continue through. You will fight Galleom here. Refer to Section 6 in order to beat him. ROOM FF: Yet another Safe Zone. Heal up and save your game, and when you are ready, ride the elevator up and take the door here. ROOM GG: This is nothing but a simple hallway. Sure, there are some flame jets and enemies, but nothing too over the top. On the other side is a door. You'll fight the Pokemon Trainer inside, so beat him to continue. ROOM HH: Drop down and go to the right. Defeat the Borboras and enter the room with the shifting walls. This room is identical to that found in The Ruins. On the other side is a door leading back to Room FF. Do not go in; instead continue to the right. There are spikes that fall from the ceiling, so watch your steps. Enter the rotating room up ahead and take the door at the end. Defeat Zelda to reach another room. ROOM II: This room is similar to one in The Lake Shore, but it doesn't scroll. Run through the ruins and defeat the Armank along the way. Zipper your way towards another door, in where you will fight Peach inside. Once you beat her, return to Room HH. ROOM HH: Go to the center of the room and enter the door leading to Room FF. ROOM FF: Return to the Safe Zone, then ride the elevator up two floors. There should be a tunnel to your right and a ladder to the left. Go down the tunnel and kill the Shaydas, then head through the shadowy door. Defeat Lucas inside to reach a new room. ROOM LL: Return to Room FF. ROOM FF: Backtrack to the elevator and now jump to the ladder. Climb it and enter the door up here to fight Wario. After you beat him, you can continue. ROOM JJ: Run to the right and ride the elevator up. Kill the Roturret and start going forward. As you jump across the holes, drop down into the third one to find a door. Go inside and defeat Luigi to return back here. Now head back to the elevator and use the zipper to launch over to a door. ROOM KK: Climb up the moving platforms and fight against the wind. Along the way, you will find an Orange Box. There are a lot of Primids and even a Big Primid to fight against in this room. When you reach the top, break the blocks and proceed through the red door. You will fight Rayquaza here. Refer to Section 6 in order to beat him. ROOM A: Wow, we are back here already! Head to the Safe Zone and do whatever, then use the teleporters to warp to Room FF. ROOM FF: Take the elevator to the top of the room and go to the right. Enter Room LL. ROOM LL: It's just like the Glacial Peak here. Hop into the Launch Barrel and jump to the ladder on the left. Climb up the ice platforms and make your way to a door on the right side of the peak. Do not go inside, instead continue to the very top. Defeat the Spaaks flying around up here and go inside. You'll fight Lucario here. Defeat them to reach Room A. ROOM A: Return to Room LL. ROOM LL: Go back to the door that I told you to ignore and head through. Beat Ice Climbers when you go through the door to reach the next room. ROOM MM: Portals are kept high above the room on moving platforms, so destroy them to stop the flow of Mites. When you reach the edge, drop down and go to the left. Enter the Safe Zone if you wish. Run past all the obstacles, such as zippers and Launch Barrels that are pointed towards the spike walls. At the end, use the Launch Barrel to reach a Rail Ball high in the air. Hit it to destroy the wall and enter the door. Defeat Ike inside and you'll return here. Go back to the Safe Zone and hit the switch above it. Doing so will make a door appear behind a wall. Go through. ROOM NN: Defeat the Big Primids and climb up the ladder. The gate on the right is locked, so follow the stairs on the left. Kill all the Armights and Primids in the way as you continue through the long, zig-zag hallway. You will come to a key and a door. Before you take the key, go inside the door and fight Marth. Once he's done for, take the key and use it to open the gate. Follow the purple arrow to a door and go through. You will fight Ganondorf here. Defeat him to reach the next room. ROOM R: Oh, look at that! If you followed this guide, you should have beaten all fighters and all bosses. Once the giant door in the background opens, go inside by pressing Up. The final battle will begin against Tabuu! Oh yeah, and Sonic appears. I was wondering where that guy was. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS: Tabuu ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It won't take long to notice, but Tabuu loves to teleport all over the damn place. Usually he teleports around four times, then stops to either attack or give you some time to attack. Tabuu has a crapload of attacks, so it's best to know each one and just how to avoid them. The first is kinda hard to notice. Tabuu will lower to the ground and kinda just stand there. However, blackish purple orbs will surround him and create an electric force field. Back up, because it hurts! A similar setup, Tabuu will scratch the ground in front of him instead of creating a force field. If Tabuu turns into a giant arrowhead, then he's getting ready to fly across the screen in a flash. Just stay under it as he passes overhead. Tabuu will also create a large black dragon head, which fires a giant laser beam across the floor. Since it fires right on the ground, you will have to jump over it. But since the attack is so long, you will have to double jump and use a recovery move (or use floaters like Kirby) to avoid the attack. Sometimes Tabbu reveals a pink blade from his arm. When he does, he slices the ground and ends up on the opposite side of the stage. Sometimes Tabuu will warp to the edge of the stage. If he does, he'll fire tiny energy shots forwards. Just leap over them for an easy getaway. Tabuu can also create a buzzsaw from his hand, and he'll throw it like a frisbee. Think of the guy from Dark Sector. Another weapon that Tabuu uses is a long golden whip. He will quickly whip it around, so dodge whether you're on the ground or in the air. A rather weird attack, Tabuu will turn into a strange golden object. He flies across the screen rather slowly. If you are caught inside, he will slam you to the ground. He kinda looks like a pair of brackets. Weird. On the topic of weird stuff, he will also grow to enormous proportions and fire lasers out of his eyes like Master Hand. They move back and forth, so either run under his chin or roll back and forth. He has two explosive attacks... literally! Sometimes Tabuu's own warps create mini explosions that can hurt you. They can be hard to notice, but you can prevent it by waiting for Tabuu to stop instead of following him. Another attack involves Tabuu making random spots of the stage explode. If you see random flashes, avoid the area. Apparently this attack is rare, because I have only seen it once. Tabuu will float in the center of the stage and create many clones of himself. As they radiate out from the real thing, they'll hurt you if you're hit. Very annoying attack if you ask me. Another rare one, Tabuu will fire blue needles out of his finger. He will teleport to a random spot and fire them in an arc (similar to Meta Ridley's fireball attack). By far the most deadly attack (and the final one on my list), Tabuu will fly in the background and flap his wings. Doing so will release three red rings. These red rings are capable of killing you in ONE HIT, and you have to dodge three of them! At first, I thought aerial dodges would work, but they clearly don't. The best is to roll (use a shield, then press Left or Right). Do this three times and you'll be safe. It is best to always dodge these, because they can kill you regardless your damage percentage. Well, those are all of Tabuu's attacks! Now you just have to kill him. Due to his annoying warps, there are little gaps of time to attack him. Sometimes, Tabuu will float in the air and do nothing, just giving you around three seconds to attack you. You really shouldn't attack him when he attacks you, because you should be on the defensive. The only exceptions are during his needle attack and his rapid scratch attack, for the sole reason that Tabuu is on the stage and has the opportunity of having his back turned to you. As a result, this battle will be very long. You have six strong fighters, so that is certainly a plus (of course, only in Subspace Emissary. LOL if you're playing Boss Mode). The key to winning is to stay on the defensive, because most of Tabuu's attacks deal a crapload of damage and have the potential of killing you in one or two hits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Once Tabuu is defeated, the ending cutscene will begin. Enjoy it, and now unlock those three fighters now that you've finished Subspace Emissary once.
